There is No Try

“Do – or do not – there is no try!”

This famous “Yoda line” is so appropriate for us – especially as we turn the 2019 calendar to March. It has now been 60+ days since our New Year’s resolutions! This year is now 1/6th of the way over. There are only 42 weeks until Christmas. You get the idea. Time slips by unless we are intentional. So, let’s get intentional!

We must refuse to keep using “lack of time or confidence” as an excuse to not get started. Those excuses are simply a form of procrastination. Instead of searching for the time or confidence you think you need, how about just get started right now? Here are three steps to consider – to be convinced about:

1. Take imperfect action – We’re so convinced that everything has to be so perfect the first time we do something when it truly doesn’t. When you’re just getting started, there’s no need to put too much pressure on yourself. Instead, take one little step that will move you closer to your goal. Done is better than perfect.

2. Enjoy the process of learning – Build up your confidence in yourself by learning everything you possibly can about what you’re trying to accomplish. If it’s starting a blog, research how to do it. If it’s learning about a new skill, learn everything you can about that skill. Really learn about it. Find out how other people have done it. The key here is to never stop learning.

3. Focus on 100% commitment - In order to successfully pursue your goals, you have to have an unwavering commitment to yourself and your ideas (even if no one else gets it). This requires “advance decision-making” and “proactive planning.” If you want to eat healthy you must commit to buy groceries every week and to maintain a steady supply of good snacks and food. You must make time for food prep. Commitment to these habits make the “consistently eating clean part” much easier!!

Your DREAM4 team believes that putting our personal desire into action is the secret to MOMENTUM. Unfortunately, it is always easier to do nothing than to take a step. Remember, a dream without a plan is just a wish!

It will be an honor for us to help you take a step and get started. We believe that the process of “pursuit” is cathartic and contagious. Intentional personal pursuits build character that can change the culture around you at home and at work!

  • Pursuing self-awareness leads to PASSION
  • Pursuing good decisions leads to PROBLEM-SOLVING
  • Pursuing solid habits leads to PROMISE-KEEPING
  • Pursuing self-awareness leads to PERSONAL INFLUENCE

The end result is powerful progress. But YOU must decide. Decide today!
